Kaplan University
At Kaplan University a quality career-oriented degree is the only focus. Through this predominantly online college Kaplan students pursue higher education without disrupting their jobs, incurring travel expenses, or facing often intimidating and chaotic campuses. From the comfort of their home or through one of eight available campuses, Kaplan students attend classes whenever they find it convenient. As a result, Kaplan allows students to further their careers without interrupting them.
Kaplan’s online classes utilize discussion boards, web field trips (during which students do internet research and record findings in online learning journals for later discussion), and online quizzes at the end of units that regularly assess comprehension. Though Kaplan University does not provide a brick-and-mortar campus, the institution is partnered with UAH Salmon Library at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama. Through UAH Salmon Library, Kaplan provides full library services with 325, volumes ready to be shipped to students, as well as microform and microfiche that are scanned and delivered to students electronically. In addition, the library gives Kaplan students access to 13, e-journals and 2, serials and periodicals.
Kaplan offers associate degrees, bachelor degrees, and master degrees in a variety of fields. Notably, Kaplan offers an accessible bachelor and master level professional law degrees. In 27, Kaplan developed over a dozen new degree programs, including master degrees in Management, Nursing, Higher Education, and others fields. Generally, a Kaplan student will need 18 months to 2 years of coursework before completing a master degree program. Some programs require students to participate in an externship or a clinical experience in order to gain the real-world knowledge necessary to earn a degree. In this way, Kaplan is able to blend the convenience of online education with the enrichment of a face-to-face experience. Recently, Kaplan expanded its commitment to education by opening a secondary school as well, Kaplan University High School.
